Cascading Ruffle Skirt

Now if I had to pick favorite Christmas present that I made (or at all for that matter) this would be it. I absolutely and completely adore this skirt. It's based on the Cascading Ruffle Skirt by Lil Blue Boo (p.s. if you don't read Lil Blue Boo, you should. Ashley is a remarkable woman!). I wanted to make something fun and young for my little 6 year old niece.

I love love love how it turned out. It has so much flounce and bounce. She wasn't the most excited to get it--i mean when all the cousins are getting toys, why did she get clothes--but i still think it is pretty amazing.

I rolled hemmed the edges for a more finished look and then used fabric paint to stencil her name and a little design for a tag of sorts.

I also bought a $5 tee from Target and stenciled a flower that matched the one on the "tag" for her. I really love how they look together! So yeah... i think it's awesome! :)

Stenciled Linen Scarf

For Christmas I tried to do a lot by hand. So for my sister in law i decided i wanted to do a scarf. Originally i did this:

But I ended up not liking it and undoing it all and instead making a fabric stencil with my silhouette and using fabric paint. I really love how it turned out. I tried to dab on the paint in a spongy way so it wasn't totally solid, but a little antique-y. It's made of a black and white woven linen that I got from Joanns that really is an amazing fabric.

Overall, I really liked how it turned out...

Daily Special Apron

Oh I feel so lazy. I've been avoiding come back here. Why? Oh really no reason. Just never felt like writing a post haha! I haven't sat down to my sewing machine since before Christmas but Made by Rae just said she is releasing and i suddenly have an urge to sew. I might go do that right now. Or sleep. Not sure which one yet.

But first i will catch you up on some of my Christmas present sewing! One... at... a... time :)

I made an apron for my mother-in-law. When my husband had a training in a distant RURAL town, I resorted to fabric hunting with 2 little kids. When I walked in the store I just plain fell in love and bought it right away. My mother in law LOVES to cook so I thought an apron would be very appropriate.

It is fully lined and reversible (so fun!). I took a picture of the front, but apparently I accidentally deleted it. A simple case of "over-editing." The guys on it are too darling and I might have to buy some fabric for myself I love it that much!

I loved the panel.  It was SUPER SUPER easy. And absolutely darling! I really love it and I hope my MIL did too!
